    Description

    Zig-Align Alignment Tool SINAR/HORSEMAN Cameras
    Zig-Align tool for aligning large format cameras. This tool is very useful for aligning the camera for flat artwork and macro photography. Consists of two parts, circular mirror mounted in Sinar/Horseman lens board (5.5x5.5 inches) and a large rectangular mirror (4.75x6.75x.25 inches). The lens board is not marked, it is metal and possibly a Horseman board, not marked Sinar. May be used on different formats, 4x5 to 8x10. Used, shows light wear.
    Use is simple, the lens board is mounted on the front standard of the camera with mirror side facing out. The rectangular mirror is set at target position, and the two circular images are aligned on the ground glass. This allows the photographer to have focus both in the center and edges of the image. Once the focus is set, the lens may be set to optimum aperture, giving better sharpness and shorter exposure times. Having shot flat artwork for over three decades using a Sinar camera, this would have been a very useful tool. This Zig-Align is still available new, it is expensive and apparently you have to supply a lens board.
